Prominent reinforcement for the FC Barcelona coaching team: New coach Hansi Flick has decided to bring ex-professional Thiago back to the club. Both already know each other well from their time together at FC Bayern. The former midfielder is set to take on a number of important tasks at Barca.
Thiago was not present at the official presentation of FC Barcelona’s new coaching team. Nevertheless, the former Spanish international will now join the team and take a place alongside Hansi Flick. The Catalans announced the signing of the ex-professional on Wednesday.
According to Spanish media, Flick had already spoken out a few days ago in favor of signing Thiago, who ended his active career this summer.
According to the club, Thiago will only remain on the coaching staff until the end of the summer. What will happen after that is not yet known.

The new tasks for Thiago at his former club have already been clearly defined by Flick. The coach allegedly wanted a link between himself and the team and the club. “He wanted someone who not only speaks German, but also knows the club very well,” wrote “Mundo Deportivo”.
To this end, Thiago is primarily supposed to influence Barca’s midfielders, conveying to them his own and Flick’s idea of football. The former world-class player certainly has a key role in mind for himself. A job in the second row is out of the question for Thiago, claimed the sports newspaper.
With Thiago, Flick is bringing a player onto the coaching team who he knows very well from their time together at FC Bayern. In the 2019/20 season, they worked together in Munich and won every title imaginable. However, their paths parted in September 2020 when Thiago moved to Liverpool FC.
