Nintendo is preparing to bring one of the biggest franchises in video game history to its Switch. The Japanese manufacturer is not at its first attempt, and has already reissued the adventures of this peerless adventurer in the past.
Remakes, remasters, ports, more than a trend
In the age of remakes and remasters, many video game studios are deciding to look in the rearview mirror to bring out iconic titles in their catalog. There have been many examples lately, particularly with the crisis the video game industry is going through. The operation fills in the gaps while offering players a little nostalgia.
Remakes, remasters, but also ports. Some studios do not hesitate to bring old cult games, released on old consoles, out of the closet in order to bring them to new generations. And very often, it’s on the Switch side that it happens. The Nintendo console has a substantial catalog of games, between its exclusives, its third-party games, such as remasters, its new licenses or its collections of vintage titles.
This Tomb Raider trilogy soon on Switch?
Sony’s competitor even confirmed to us that it was specialized in game porting, ideally readjusted for the characteristics of its hardware. In recent times, the Japanese manufacturer has produced some fine examples, such as South Park: The Chronicles of Destiny, Nier Automata, The Witcher 3or more recently Hogwarts Legacy.
Soon, Nintendo is preparing to bring one of the most cult video game licenses up to date, in the form of Tomb Raider. More precisely, it is the trilogy started with Tomb Raider : Legend in 2006 which could integrate the Nintendo Switch catalog. So Tomb Raider : Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary released a year later, and Tomb Raider: Underworld could release in physical version for the Switch, on Amazon. The information was spotted by a Reddit user, who shared his discovery on the subreddit associated with the Tomb Raider universe.
The complete collection would be titled The Lara Croft Collection, and would benefit froma big graphical improvement and readjusted controls in order to improve gameplay. By going to Amazon, we notice that the trilogy is indeed available for purchase. However, nothing has been communicated on the subject. Nice ball from the American retailer? It could be that the announcement is made official at the next Game Awards which will be held on December 12 and 13 in Los Angeles.
This won’t be the first time that the adventures of Lara Croft have been brought to the Switch. Remember that in 2023, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light et Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, released in 2014 were already the subject of a reissue, also under the name The Lara Croft Collection, at the cost price of 25 euros.
