DAPURPACUID – Throughout the 2024 GIIAS, there was a unique display unit at the Daihatsu booth that managed to attract the attention of visitors, namely the Sigra Cardboard.
This model, which was designed in collaboration with Dus Duk Duk, is made from used cardboard sheets with a 1:1 scale and has the same size as the original model.
Yasushi Kyoda, President Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, said that the Sigra was chosen as the inspiration for the artwork because it is one of the main vehicles chosen by young Indonesian families as their first car.
According to him, this inspiration is in line with the theme raised by Daihatsu at this year’s GIIAS, namely ‘GROW FOR BETTER TOMORROW’, for a better sustainable future.
“During GIIAS 2024, we present a sustainability program as a means of educational entertainment, one of which is through the Sigra car made of cardboard,” he added.
“The presence of the Sigra car made of cardboard with a real scale (1:1) as an inspiration for the creation of environmentally friendly used materials,” he said.
Kyoda explained that Daihatsu is committed to contributing by providing better mobility, while growing together with the Indonesian people towards a sustainable future.
The Sigra Cardboard is made from around 70 large sheets of used cardboard, all of which come from the Daihatsu factory in Indonesia, which have gone through an industrial recycling process.
With a material thickness of 4 mm measuring 120 x 240 cm, all of these used cardboard boxes were obtained from a total of 270 parts and pallets. The manufacturing process took about 3 weeks.
In its manufacture, it goes through a development process starting from the Design, Structure and Pattern, Cutting and Assembling, Installation and Finishing, and Maintenance stages.
Astra Daihatsu Sigra is a 7-passenger LCGC MPV car that is claimed to be suitable for young Indonesian families, and can also be a first vehicle.
Daihatsu Sigra has become a major contributor to Daihatsu’s sales nationally and has sold more than 370 thousand units since its initial launch in 2016.
Until Semester 1 2024, Sigra remains the main choice for Indonesian families, and has experienced an increase with a contribution of 61% in the LCGC MPV market segment, or as many as 30,013 units.
Sigra is available in several variants such as D, M, X, and R, as well as 7 color choices that can be selected according to taste with prices starting from IDR 139.2 million – IDR 184.6 million (OTR DKI Jakarta).
Prices may vary depending on the variant, location and region. Detailed information and specifications can be viewed through the channel or through the DaihatsuKu mobile app. (dpid/TH)
