According to information from 9 News Melbourne, A Ford ZL Fairlane remained parked in the parking lot of Northcote Plaza Since more than ten years. For many years, many visitors to the shopping center have been able to observe this vehicle. It is still parked in the same place without ever moving an inch. No one knew who owned this seemingly abandoned car, but the mystery has now been resolved.
According to the management of the Northcote Plaza shopping centre, the previous owner of this Ford is died more than 15 years ago. They did however specify that the car had not been left parked there at random. The son of the former owner had asked that his father’s Ford stay in the parking lot. It’s a way ofhonor the memory from his father. Since this decision, the vehicle has still not moved and is now considered as a personal memorial.
Most visitors to the shopping center are not aware of this touching story. Some of them might be brought to damage unintentionally the Ford ZL Fairlane while parking next to it. But luckily, the state of the vehicle seems to be still reasonable after all these years. It still has some signs of aging normal with some marks. Unfortunately, now missing a passenger side mirror and the trunk lock which were probably stolen.

However, this Ford ZL Fairlane has the advantage of being permanently covered. Its bodywork is not at risk of being damaged by the severe weather like rain or snow, or even being attacked by the Australian sun.
Between 1984 and 1988, approximately 26,000 Ford ZL Fairlanes were produced with a 4.1-liter six-cylinder engine. This one is one of them and can now be considered a rarity in the automotive world. Before this generation, ZL Fairlanes were equipped with V8 engines until 1982.
Now this vehicle is considered a memorial for the family of the former owner of the Ford ZL Fairlane. Many mall visitors will not pay attention to this vehicle, while others will always have a thought for the man who owned this car. It is a nice gesture from the management of the shopping center who let the family park this abandoned vehicle for a touching reason.
