this futuristic toaster charges your smartphone in 4 seconds!

Founded by entrepreneur Padraic Connolly, Swippitt promises to revolutionize the way we charge our mobile devices.

An ingenious system

The Swippitt concept is based on an ingenious system made up of three key elements: the Swippitt Hub, the Link, and interchangeable batteries. The Hub, resembling a futuristic toaster, is capable of managing, charging and swapping up to five batteries simultaneously. The Link, on the other hand, is a smart protective case incorporating a 3,500 mAh battery, designed to fit perfectly with compatible smartphones. Finally, interchangeable batteries are at the heart of the system, allowing almost instantaneous recharging of devices.

How Swippitt works is remarkably simple and quick. The user inserts their smartphone, equipped with the Link case, into the Swippitt Hub. In just a few seconds, the Hub removes the dead battery and replaces it with a fully charged battery. This process takes just 2-4 seconds, providing a virtually instant charging solution, a huge advantage over traditional charging methods.

One of the most impressive aspects of this technology is its ability to provide significant additional charging. According to Swippitt, the Link’s battery can offer between 50% and 90% additional charge, depending on the smartphone model used. This feature could prove particularly appealing to heavy users who often find themselves running out of battery throughout the day.

Currently, the Swippitt system is compatible with iPhone 14, 15 and 16, but the company has also announced plans to expand compatibility to Android devices by the end of 2025.

To complete its offering, Swippitt has developed a mobile application allowing users to manage charging parameters and monitor battery status. This integrated approach provides a level of control and customization that current charging solutions cannot match.

Un certain budget

While Swippitt’s innovation is undeniable, the price could be a barrier for some consumers. The Swippitt Hub, including five batteries, is priced at $450, while the Link case costs an additional $120. However, the company is currently offering promotional offers, including a 30% reduction on orders placed in January 2025.

The Swippitt system is scheduled to go on sale in June 2025, giving the company time to refine its product and expand its compatibility range. This period will be crucial for Swippitt, because it will have to convince consumers of the interest of its system compared to fast and wireless charging solutions already existing on the market.

Swippitt’s arrival on the market comes at a time when the smartphone industry is evolving. With the adoption of the universal USB-C charger in the European Union since December 28, 2024, and the emphasis placed on reducing electronic waste, Swippitt will have to demonstrate how its system fits into this trend towards standardization and sustainability.
