This museum is mainly known for housing the largest collection of European cars in America. Moreover, it hides something even more fascinating: a private collection of unusual vehicles. Unfortunately, this one is not open to the public. Jeff Lane is the owner of this museum, which exhibits 125 different cars all year round. To the great delight of its visitors.
His collection extends to 550 vehicles in total. This is the main reason why he built a private underground garage. He can store his rarest automotive jewels and unusual. Jeff Lane spoke in an interview with Tom Cotter of Barn Find Hunter on the operation of its museum and its collection:
“Because we have 550 cars in the collection and can only display 125 at a time, we rotate between 60 and 70 cars a year.”
Thanks to this rotation, visitors can come to the museum several times to discover new cars never seen before.
An atypical collection that attracts the eye of the most curious
Its underground garage is a real treasure for lovers of unique cars. The latter houses more unusual vehicles one than the other. We find there in particular a Mini Cooper in 2/3 scale as well as a shortened Mini. These two miniature vehicles continue to attract attention. Continuing in the world of miniature cars, a King Midget Roadster from 1963 is parked in this underground. This very small vehicle is equipped with a 10 horsepower lawn mower engine. However, it is capable of reaching a speed of 64 km/h.
The Martin Aerodynamic from 1928 is one of the rarities in his collection. The automobile rides on a wooden frame covered in aluminum with a four-cylinder engine in the rear position. Jeff also has other cars built by the Martin Aircraft Company, including a Martinette from 1930 and a Stationette from 1950.
Walking through the rest of his large covered garage, we find other almost new vehicles. There is a Skoda Octavia from 1960 with less than 4,000 kilometers. There is also a Citroën Traction Before Gazogene from 1938 powered by coala vehicle that has truly become unique over time. In short, this well-hidden unusual collection should not cease to surprise you given the number of atypical vehicles parked in this underground garage that is full of history and mysteries.
