Huawei Mate MX officially with two hinges

Huawei has been rocking the tech world in recent weeks after images emerged showing the company’s CEO holding a striking smartphone. It’s the Huawei Mate MX: the first foldable phone with a double hinge. Huawei has now officially unveiled the device, making it the world’s largest consumer smartphone. Converted to $100,000 in China, it costs $100,000. 2550 euro.

Thanks to its unique shape, the device can be used in three different modes. When completely folded, the Mate MX has a size of 6.4 inches. After unfolding it once, you have a screen of 7.9 inches at your disposal. Fully unfolded, the screen is 10.2 inches.

When fully folded, the Mate MX is just 12.8 millimeters thin, two millimeters thicker than the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the foldable with the largest screen and a single hinge. At 3.6 millimeters thick, the three parts of the Mate MX are incredibly thin.

Huawei is expected to use the latest Kirin 9010 chip in combination with 16GB of RAM and at least 256GB of storage. A camera island with three lenses is mounted on the back of the Mate MX. It concerns a 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and 12-megapixel periscope lens.

In addition to the screen, the battery is also remarkably large, especially considering the thickness of the casing. The battery has a capacity of 5600 mAh and charges with a maximum of 66 watts wired or 50 watts wirelessly – provided you use the right adapter.

Huawei Mate MX availability

The Huawei Mate MX went on pre-order immediately after the launch on Hauwei’s own webshop. The smartphone is currently only available in China. Converted, you pay there 2550 euro for the 256GB model, 2800 euro for 512GB and 3055 euro for 1TB of storage space.

Whether and when the device will come to the Netherlands or other markets is still unknown. If that is the case, the device will still run on Harmony OS: Huawei’s own software without Google Play services such as the Play Store, YouTube and Gmail.
