The helicopter takes off carrying a large amount of building materials and, after flying for a few minutes, drops the package on a nearby mountainside where a house is being built. The action was carried out on September 12, 2024 in Tahitótfalu: this was the first time in Hungary that building materials were delivered to a ready-made house by helicopter. The family house is owned by ADAM-HOUSE Innovatív Kft. builds, 99 percent of its houses are made to order.
The special helicopter delivery of materials carried out in Tahitótfalun was necessary because the two-story, 178-square-meter family house is being built in the eastern extension of Pilis, on a secluded, steep plot that is impossible to access with larger transport vehicles. In the video, the helicopter rose into the air with prefabricated panel structures, and in the next round it took off with the wooden materials. Gábor Körösztös, the project manager of ADAM-HOUSE, said that helicopter transport was not originally planned, but the special accessibility made this solution possible.
Ákos Paczolay, the technical manager of the company, expressed the challenges of the helicopter operation: the timber for construction can no longer be transported horizontally due to their size, so they had to be delivered to their destination using other techniques. Although the pilot is used to special situations, there were times when he had to make a correction. He had to return with a load of timber to secure the load with ropes, so that the beams could be safely laid on the building. The pilot explained that the air flows down the side of the mountain, the downflow is enhanced by the rotor of the helicopter, and the transported suspension can be caught in this wind. All this makes transportation more difficult, but the task is not insurmountable. In addition to the construction materials, 463 square meters of SIP panels, 1,250 structural screws and 40,000 industrial staples also reached their destination and are awaiting installation on the Pilis hillside.
“If the site is inaccessible, then ADAM-HOUSE”
Following the unique investment, an employee of ADAM-HOUSE unofficially changed the company’s motto to “if the site is inaccessible, then ADAM-HOUSE”. The 100 percent Hungarian-owned company specializes in lightweight prefabricated houses built with SIP technology. SIP (Structured Insulated Panel) panels are made by inserting EPS filler between OSB building boards with a special adhesive. The structure, which replaces walls erected from traditional building materials, repels water and has a high level of static and thermal insulation properties. With a 10 cm thick outer wall, thermal insulation corresponding to the limit value of the passive house is already available, and even the AA++ energy classification. The structure is narrower than traditional walls, thus increasing the useful floor area of the building.
With the SIP technology, stone walls can be replaced, so environmentally friendly prefab houses built with this system can be completed in 120-160 days, according to ADAM-HOUSE’s promise. This is possible by delivering the elements manufactured based on prepared production plans cut to size, which does not entail additional costs on site, and the labor requirement is also lower, since there is no need for high-quality carpenters and masons, which are increasingly difficult to find on the market. In addition, a significant part of the construction waste can be saved.
The company not only builds family houses, it also undertakes the design and construction of condominiums, public administration buildings, industrial halls, schools, and leisure buildings. In addition to Hungary, he now also has customers from abroad, such as the Netherlands.
