Microsoft itself allowed up-to-date AI-based laptops and popular PCs of previous years to coexist.
It’s been more than half a year since the Copilot+ PCs equipped with artificial intelligence-based functions entered the market, and although the start was slow to say the least, the new machines have made significant progress in several areas. This was confirmed by Windows Latest according to Microsoft’s report, the company claimed that the Copilot+ machines are the “fastest and most intelligent” Windows PCs ever produced.
To prove this, the tech giant compared Copilot+ PCs with the more popular Windows computers that came on the market 5 years ago. Although Microsoft did not specify exactly which older models took part in the test, it revealed that it selected the PCs with the highest number of monthly active users for the comparison. The Copilot+ models tested were powered by the Snapdragon X Elite 12-core and Snapdragon X Plus 10-core configurations.
The comparison focused mainly on performance and battery life. Performance was measured using the Cinebench 2024 Multi-Core benchmark program, during which Snapdragon-based Copilot+ PCs proved to be five times faster than the most popular models five years ago.
In terms of battery life, Microsoft found that when playing local video content, Copilot+ PCs can last up to twice as long, while during simple Internet browsing they can reach up to three times the operating time compared to previous models. During the tests, all devices used the same Wi-Fi connection and 150 nits of brightness.
The results show that Copilot+ PCs are not only outstanding in terms of artificial intelligence-based functions, but also in terms of performance and battery life. So if someone is looking for a new machine, in addition to AI-based capabilities, hardware efficiency can also be a good argument for buying Copilot+ PCs.
