This is how Gamepay – Elgiganten’s payment system for skins works

Elgiganten’s new payment system Gamepay lets you trade in your Counter-Strike 2 skins for money that you can use to buy stuff at the retailer. Below you can see how the system works.

The screen starts by showing a QR code that you scan with your standard mobile camera. You will then receive a link in the browser that you copy and paste into Steam Guard in the Steam app to validate you.

Edin should scan into Gamepay with his Steam account.

There are certain rules for Gamepay. You must be 18 years of age to use the system. You cannot redeem skins worth less than 50 kroner and you can only sell skins with a total value of 10,000. Other items, such as crates, cannot be sold. Also, recently purchased skins that are not sellable through Steam cannot be redeemed through Gamepay.

Oops! Edin doesn’t seem to have any skins that meet the selling requirements.

If your Steam account meets the requirements, you can choose which skins you want to sell and see how much they’re worth.

Edin has made his choice and is ready to check out.

It’s time to make a purchase.

When you have checked out, you will receive a voucher that you take to the nearest checkout to convert the money from your sold skins into a gift card at Elgiganten. Once you have received your gift card, you can start shopping freely.

The staff scans the note and then you receive a gift card.

Earlier we reported that the company wants to roll out Gamepay stations in its stores, but when that might happen is not yet clear. The plan is also to expand the payment system to the webshop. Right now it is only possible to redeem skins from Counter-Strike 2 and it is unclear if the function will be available for other games.
