Will the child allowance be increased in 2025?

In October 2024, one was left motion to Sweden’s Riksdag. It dealt with financial security for families and children and contained a proposal to increase and at the same time secure the value of child support until 2025. According to the proposal, which was submitted by Märta Stenevi (MP), they wanted to increase the child allowance by SEK 230 a month, which for a family with three children would correspond to SEK 700 more per month.

On 11 December 2024, however, the decision was made that the Riksdag decided not to adopt alternative budget proposals in motions. This is because in the approved budget around 105 billion is allocated to financial security for families and children.

This therefore means that the child allowance will not be increased in 2025.
