But Verstappen will most likely thwart their plans. In the third-to-last race of the season in Las Vegas, the 27-year-old Dutchman (393 points) was able to decisively overtake his closest rival Lando Norris (331) in the drivers’ championship of the premier motorsport class.

After the spectacle in the USA, he would have to be at least 60 points ahead of the Brit. Norris could mathematically equal the Grands Prix in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, but the higher number of race victories would then also speak for Verstappen.

… he doesn’t get into the points and Norris only finishes ninth at best and doesn’t manage the fastest lap of the race.
… Norris doesn’t get past tenth place.
If Verstappen secures the F1 title again in Las Vegas for the fourth time, it would be historic: he would draw level with Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost in the all-time list of winners in the racing series.
Only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton (7 titles each) and Juan-Manuel Fangio (5) would then be ahead of Verstappen in the ranking.
