This is how you add a birthday to Google Calendar

Do you use Google Calendar to keep track of all your appointments and important events? In this tip you can read how to manually add birthdays to your calendar.

Add Google Calendar birthdays

Google Calendar is probably the most popular calendar app for Android, but for a long time it was strangely missing an important feature. This is the option to add birthdays to the agenda yourself. Until recently, birthdays were automatically synchronized with Google Calendar via your contact list, but you could not manually add them to the calendar.

Fortunately, it is now possible to add a birthday to your calendar, so you don’t miss any birthday parties. It’s very simple, so grab your Android phone and open the Google Calendar app.

  1. Open the Google Calendar app and tap the plus button at the bottom right;
  2. Select ‘Appointment’, after which you will see the new ‘Birthday’ option at the top. Tap this;
  3. You can now add the name of the birthday person and his or her date of birth.

    If necessary, choose to set a reminder, so that you receive a reminder a week in advance that the birthday is coming up, for example.

That’s it! The birthday is immediately added to your calendar and synchronized. As a result, the event also immediately appears in the web version of Google Calendar, which is useful if you regularly check your appointments on your laptop or PC.
