This is how you can help yourself if you have a headache, an inflamed bladder, a sore throat, a sinus infection or an earache

Beneficially warm wraps and compresses are among the oldest healing methods in the world. Surely you remember that grandmother used to beat your high fever like this – rags in brandy and on your hot body.

Warm compresses stimulate circulation deep in the tissues, activate the immune system and suppress inflammation. Their high efficiency comes mainly from the combination of heat and highly effective plant substances. The high temperature expands the blood vessels and allows medicinal substances to penetrate even deeper into the affected tissue. On the other hand, beneficial cold packs help with some problems.

Against headache

Cold compresses with lavender and marjoram essential oils have been shown to be beneficial for headaches and neck tension. Procedure: add five drops of lavender and marjoram essential oil to a cup of cold water. Dip a linen cloth in the liquid, wring it out and place it on your forehead or nape of the neck for 20 minutes. Fragrant lavender promotes sleep, and marjoram relaxes muscles and veins. Together, they relieve headaches and lower blood pressure.

In case of an inflamed bladder

Koalas definitely never have a bladder infection because they are crazy about eucalyptus. Australian healers have been swearing by fragrant eucalyptus leaves for centuries for many types of infections. These contain cineole, which inhibits bladder inflammation and relieves pain. Procedure: at the first signs of an inflamed bladder, add five drops of eucalyptus oil to 300 milliliters of hot water. Dip a cotton cloth in the liquid, wring it out and place it on the lower part of the abdomen and tie it with a woolen scarf. Remove the compress after 30 minutes, dress warmly and relax.

During the attacks of putika

Cabbage has a strong cleansing effect. For acute ankle pain and other joint pain, kale can remove toxic substances that trigger attacks, as well as inflammatory substances, from the body. Procedure: spread the kale leaves on a towel and roll them with a rolling pin to extract the juice. Then spread them around the painful joint and wrap with a clean, thin towel. Leave it on overnight.

For energy

Healers and herbalists still use ginger wraps in cases of exhaustion. These stimulate the generation of heat in the body and thus speed up relaxation. Procedure: pour a few tablespoons of peeled and finely grated ginger with a little hot water, let it stand for ten minutes and then strain it. Add a liter of hot water, soak a cotton cloth with the liquid, wring it out and place it on the kidney area. After about ten minutes, there will be an intense feeling of heat that will strengthen the whole body. Remove the cover after 30 minutes and rest for another 15 minutes.

Against inflammation of the sinuses

If the cold has taken root in the nasal cavities, a compress with flax seeds helps. Their active ingredients thin mucus and inhibit inflammation. Procedure: Boil five tablespoons of flax seeds in 400 milliliters of water until they soften. Then put them on a kitchen towel and roll them into a roll, which you place on your nose for 20 minutes. Heat promotes circulation and healing.

Aching ear

Onion poultices are said to be very effective for severe earaches. How do you prepare them? Finely chop a medium-sized onion, which you put in gauze or a handkerchief. Tie the earplug tightly and quickly heat it on a heater or over steam, then place it on the painful ear and secure it with a tape or a cap. Heat the ear until the stinger cools down (about half an hour).

For easier coughing and against a sore throat

When you have a sore throat, a boiled potato wrap can help. Placed on the neck, it very slowly emits heat to the painful area and vocal cords. This accelerates blood circulation and the elimination of pathogens. Procedure: boil six potatoes in shapes, wrap them in a kitchen towel and mash them with a rolling pin. Check the correct temperature with your wrist. Carefully place the warm wrap on the neck, wrap it with a scarf and rest for half an hour to an hour. If a scratchy throat develops into a tiring cough, reach for thyme oil. The healing essential powers of thyme oil are especially well developed in hot steam. They dilate blood vessels and relieve spasms, as well as thick mucus in stubborn coughs. Procedure: soak the cotton fabric in half a liter of thyme tea (body temperature), wring it out slightly and wrap it in a towel. Place it on your chest and wrap it in a long scarf. Remove after ten minutes. You can do the same with sage.
