This is Pertamina’s answer to the sulfur issue at Pertamax

DAPURPACUID – There are many rumors circulating in the community regarding reports of vehicle engine damage which is thought to be related to the use of Pertamax in the Cibinong area, West Java due to the sulfur content in car filters and petrol pumps.

Lemigas has finished conducting lab tests on Pertamax samples from gas stations in Cibinong and several other areas. The results stated that the quality of Pertamax had met the technical specifications required by the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

“Lab test results from Lemigas state that Pertamax products are on spec in accordance with the provisions of the Director General of Oil and Gas. “People don’t need to worry about the quality of Pertamax,” stressed Heppy

Regarding vehicles that were reported to be experiencing engine problems, Heppy stated that his party continues to monitor the condition and is still continuing studies with LAPI ITB.

“We are still carrying out studies considering that engine problems only occur in certain brands and types of vehicles and in certain locations, so we need to study the details of the causes of problems with vehicle engines in these locations,” said Heppy.

Heppy further said that his party immediately resolved this incident. As soon as they received information from consumers, Pertamina Patra Niaga immediately moved quickly to take samples at the gas station where the vehicle was filled and fuel samples from vehicles that were reported to have engine problems to be taken to Lemigas and Pertamina Patra Niaga collaborated with LAPI ITB to vehicle engine testing (24/11).

“Pertamina will continue to monitor fuel quality and be responsible for the products we distribute. “We are committed to ensuring the best quality for our consumers and will not hesitate to carry out evaluations if necessary,” concluded Heppy.

Pertamina also urges consumers to continue carrying out routine vehicle maintenance at official workshops and use quality fuel according to vehicle specifications, so that performance remains optimal.
