This is the feature that iOS 18 is missing to be perfect and you will want it too

Apple please you have to add this feature!

This function would be very useful in instant messaging

Apple has incorporated a very good number of improvements in iOS 18. Beyond all the new features that are yet to come to Apple Intelligence around April 2025 (Spain), the renewed version of the iPhone operating system offers a wide variety of features that help enrich your user experience.

Among some of the new functions of iOS 18, we could highlight the great remodeling that the Control Center underwent with its new organization system or the home screen customization layer, in addition to other small innovations such as the Passwords application, the effects of Messages or the redesign of the Safari reader menu.

But there are always aspects to improve until perfection is reached. Especially in a software update. And iOS 18 is no exception. In fact, after a couple of months of use I have found a possible function – although it had already occurred to me a few years ago – that could further enhance the quality of the operating system. To me it seems like a must-have and I think you might like it too.

A special feature for iOS 18 emojis

With the entry on the scene of iOS 18.1 you will surely have noticed that the emoji panel it’s much bigger now. In fact even The icon for each emoji category has been redesigned. It is now a little more difficult to find the emojis that are present on the furthest pages, It takes us a little more time since each emoji takes up more space on the panel. But for this there would be a very interesting solution that I think would make iOS 18 a much better operating system.

iOS 18

Emojis have a special section with a history of used emojis

The solution in question would consist of creating a favorite emoji page or category. iOS 18 users now have the emoji history feature, which shows the most recently or recently used emojis. But it is not enough. What I ask of Apple is a completely personalized emoji category so that each user can decide which emojis they want to put where on that page. Because sometimes the emoji history shows the latest ones but not the most used ones and it’s a bit chaotic. In fact, try it right now. Start typing a bunch of random emojis and you’ll see how the history changes immediately.

Imagine being able to place an emoji wherever you want in the emoji panel. Let’s take, for example, the emoji with the happy face shedding a tear () (I love that emoji). We put it in the first place, top left. In second place we put the croissant emoji (). The category would allow you to select a position for each emoji and They would never move from there unless you want to edit it again.

iOS 18

The Settings menu could include a section to reorder your favorite emojis

And if we go like Apple, we could Dedicate a section for the favorite emojis panel in the Settings app. This would make it much easier to customize our favorite emojis, since on the keyboard itself it could be a bit cumbersome and not very intuitive. Now that emojis are bigger than ever and we have more and more emojis to choose from – which is wonderful because the evolution of emojis allows us to express our emotions with greater precision – it would be the perfect time to create a section of favorite emojis on the keyboard. What do you think?
