OnePlus unveils a brand new mid-ranger: the Nord 4. The device features significant improvements and in this article we will tell you all about it.
OnePlus Nord 4 officially unveiled
Android lovers have been waiting for it for a while and now it’s finally here. The OnePlus Nord 4 has been officially announced and will soon be coming to the Netherlands. The device follows the popular Nord 3 from last year and is OnePlus’ most important mid-range device this year.
The Nord 4 has the necessary improvements, but is still reasonably affordable. The new phone can be ordered now in the Netherlands and is on August 8 in stores. The device has a suggested retail price of 499 euro for the entry-level version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. If you want more storage, you can opt for the 512GB version of 599 euro go. It also has 16GB of RAM.
This makes the Nord 4 exactly 50 euros more expensive than the Nord 3 last year, although you do get more RAM and storage for that. You can choose from the colors dark gray, silver and green.
OnePlus is taking a different approach with the design of the Nord 4. The smartphone has a metal casing, instead of the plastic or glass that the manufacturer usually uses. The entire phone is made of metal and should feel sturdier as a result.
Also striking is the back, which consists of two ‘parts’. The upper part is glossy, while the rest of the back has a matte finish. This is reminiscent of the first Google Pixel smartphones from years ago, which looked about the same.
The screen, which is 6.74 inches in size, has flat sides and a high resolution of 2772 by 1240 pixels. Because of the latter, images should look very sharp. Incidentally, it is an AMOLED screen, which produces bright and clear colors. Thanks to the refresh rate of 120Hz, everything looks smooth. The peak brightness is 2150 nits, so you can also read it well in the sun. OnePlus also promises that the screen responds well to your fingers in the rain.
The OnePlus Nord 4 has a relatively large battery of 5500 mAh. The average Android phone nowadays has a battery of around 5000 mAh, so in this area the OnePlus smartphone has an advantage. Charging is very fast: the Nord 4 can fast charge with 100 watts. This means a full charge takes only 28 minutes.
Veel Android-updates
OnePlus is also taking steps in the area of updates with the Nord 4. The device gets OnePlus’ best update policy to date. That’s quite special, because the phone is even supported longer than the OnePlus 12 from earlier this year. That’s a high-end smartphone that costs hundreds of euros more than the new Nord.
The OnePlus Nord 4 runs Android 14 out of the box, and will receive four major Android upgrades in the future. This means you’re guaranteed Android 15, 16, 17 and 18. Security patches, which fix software issues and keep hackers out, will be released for six years. The Nord 4 will be supported through mid-2030.
Hardware and cameras
Looking at the internal hardware and cameras, the improvements are also noteworthy. The OnePlus Nord 4 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 processor. This is a lot more powerful than the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 of the OnePlus Nord 3. In addition, the new smartphone has more RAM and storage space as standard, as mentioned.
Furthermore, there is another alert sliderthe physical button that allows you to easily set the phone to silent, vibrate or sound. In addition, the Nord 4 is equipped with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, NFC for contactless payments and a fingerprint scanner under the screen.
The OnePlus smartphone mainly takes photos with the 50 megapixel main camera. This lens has optical image stabilization and therefore takes sharp snapshots in the dark, or when your hands are shaking.
Also present is a simpler 8 megapixel wide-angle lens for wider shots. The macro camera of the Nord 3 has been killed. The new device does have a 16 megapixel front camera.
OnePlus Nord 4 prices and release
The OnePlus Nord 4 is available to order now and will be released on 8 augustus place. The entry-level model costs 499 euro and the version with more RAM and storage 599 euro.
