Few cars are as loved as the BMW E30 M3, which was created as a homologation special to meet DTM and Group A Touring regulations, and is considered by many enthusiasts to be the best M car in history. But the question arises as to how this icon would look in the 21st century, and the answer is provided by some rather interesting renderings.
The modern interpretation of the E30 generation M3 model was designed by Ihn Lee, a student at the South Korean National University of Arts, who in his digital studio combined the recognizable lines of the iconic car and the features of BMW’s future Neue Klasse vehicle series. Despite the combination of eighties style and the latest design, it must be admitted that the car looks fantastic.
The front part features a nice combination of classic and modern details. Like the original E30, the car has four light circles, which also include LED daytime running lights. The small kidney grill of the radiator is placed in the black part of the front mask, just like in the case of the original. However, the bumper is much more aggressive and features a wide grille and large air intakes.
The profile is no less attractive, revealing elegant two-doors with square panels and arches, as well as a set of attractively designed wheels, and thin A and B pillars are also visible. At the rear, the influence of the Neue Klasse series is clearly visible in the form of a set of thin LED lights, which are more rounded than those on BMW’s recent concepts, including the 3 Series-sized sedan and the X3-like SUV.
Unfortunately, the “revival” of the E30 M3 model is not in the plans.
