This is what separates Samsung’s and Google’s SMS apps

Samsung’s Messages and Google’s Messages. Both apps manage text messages and many mobile phones have both installed. We explain the difference.

Google’s and Samsung’s SMS apps have roughly the same name (both are called Messages in English), have similar icons and are generally difficult to tell apart, while only one can be used at a time. If you start the wrong app, you will be asked if you want to switch to this as your SMS app instead. Mazy. Samsung itself now chooses Google’s app as the default, while Samsung’s app remains and cannot be uninstalled.

Samsung’s user interface strives to have everything you need to touch in the bottom half of the screen to make one-handed use easier, and it shows in Notifications. But even Google has adapted its Messages to this in Samsung mobiles.

Samsung’s messaging app also supports Google’s RCS, which means you can use emojis, send pictures and other things that the standard SMS technology is too limited for. Samsung and Google apps are fully compatible here.

Differences with Messages: Google has an automatic sorting function that can divide your text messages into different categories. Both apps have the option of quick replies, but Samsung’s quick replies are a number of preselected options, while Google’s are AI-generated based on the conversation. Google’s app also supports emoji reactions to messages, which Samsung lacks. Google Messages can also be connected to a PC so that you can read and reply to SMS on the computer. The most important feature that Samsung has and Google lacks is a trash can. If you delete a message, it remains in it for 30 days and you can fish it out if you deleted it by mistake.
