This is what the Mercedes looks like, assembled from six others

He shouts about this Mercedes that it is not an ordinary example, because the 2011 GLK 350 was assembled from parts of six other brand partners, in addition to its own. The unique SUV named Frankenstein a Jalopnik noticed.

Between 2008 and 2015, the GLK-Class lived a total of seven years in the Mercedes-Benz range. With the compact crossover, the Germans wanted to provide a middle ground for those who want an entry-level, understated model that surpasses the C-class in size, but is not a station wagon, nor does it rise to the same heights as the ML-class.

One of the clear goals of the 13-year-old Mercedes transformation was greater performance. As you know, the AMG version was not made from the GLK series, so the American owner may have decided to take control into his own hands. As the saying goes: “If the mountain does not come to Muhammad, Muhammad will go to the mountain.” A similar consideration is suspected for replacing the stock 3.5-liter V6 engine in the GLK 350 with a 5.5-liter V8 block derived from a 2010 E500. The automatic transmission was also banished, replacing it with a six-speed manual that was lifted from a 2008 C300.

With this heart transplant, the Mercedes’ output increased from 231 to 388 horsepower, while its torque increased from 370 to 530 Nm.

In addition, the engine management of the E-Class was upgraded, while the front axle received Brembo brakes, which were removed from a W221-generation S-Class. The heated front seats are from the W212-generation E-Class, the 17-inch wheels are from a CLA, and the instrument cluster is from a newer 2013 GLK.

It is difficult to judge whether it was good for Mercedes that it was transformed into a mule, or on the contrary – we leave the decision to our readers with the vote at the end of the article – which, on the other hand, can be blamed on the works for not being flawless.
