This is your very last chance to get a subsidy for a second-hand electric car

Anyone who still wants to receive 2000 euros in subsidy for the purchase of a second-hand electric car should really hurry now. Later this week the subsidy pot will be completely empty.

The so-called SEPP subsidy for second-hand electric cars proved popular. Of the total 29.4 million that was made available at the beginning of this year, not much is left in any case. Two weeks ago, there was only 3.13 million euros left, now there is 538,000 euros left, good for some 269 subsidy applications. In short, anyone who would like to get some money back from the purchase of an EV, has no time to lose.

No more subsidies from next year

The subsidy was created by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) to make the purchase of a second-hand EV more attractive. However, this is the last year that the scheme applies, so do not expect a new pot of money to be opened next year. This is therefore the last opportunity for this discount on your electric used car.

What was that again?

If you bought a second-hand electric car that originally had a maximum catalogue value of 45,000 euros, you could count on a purchase subsidy of 2,000 euros. There is still a subsidy scheme for new electric cars and that pot of money is far from empty. Of the 58 million euros that was made available for this purpose this year, not even half has been distributed. Incidentally, you get a higher amount back under that scheme, namely 2,950 euros for the same maximum catalogue value.

The subsidy for new electric cars will also be terminated after this year, but there is still enough time to calmly select a new EV. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the purchase of a second-hand car.
