The Mitsubishi Galant has been part of history as a model in the Netherlands for quite some time now, because it’s been almost twenty years since we waved goodbye to ‘our’ last Galant. Even such a last Galant destined for Europe is now almost In het Wild-worthy, let alone this 1981. Colleague Lars Krijgsman and myself came across it and were impressed by the optical condition of the car. Not only is it a handsome Galant for its age, the model itself has also stood the test of time quite well, right? It’s not entirely original, by the way. The spoiler on the boot lid, for example, was added afterwards and somewhere in its existence the Japanese middle-class car lost its hubcaps. In any case, the car still looks neat in its beige paint and we don’t spot any brown edges. That’s a good sign, because rust was a serious enemy of this Galant. There’s a good chance that the car has been with enthusiasts and still does. The current owner got it over two years ago and when you buy a Galant this old, you undoubtedly have a soft spot for it. In any case, we are glad that someone keeps this Galant on the road, because it makes the street scene a lot more interesting these days.
