Shadow of The Erdtreethe DLC of the formidable Fire Ringhas been very well received by players overall. However, there is one element that has been the subject of much criticism from almost all players, both newbies and veterans of FromSoftware: the final boss, incredibly difficult for the wrong reasons. But the studio seems to have taken good note of the community’s exasperation. Miyazaki’s gang has just unveiled a new patch built around a substantial nerve of this hated opponentwhich could well become a mere formality after having terrorized the community for many weeks.
A difficult boss for the wrong reasons
By the end of the expansion, most players were ecstatic when they realized they were going to have to face one of the most memorable enemies from the base game again: the legendary general Radahnnow subjugated and strengthened by the irresistible influence of his half-brother Miquella.
But the excitement quickly gave way to despair when players realized the guy was devilishly tough, and for all the wrong reasons.
Indeed, his moveset is riddled with attacks that are atrociously difficult to anticipate and especially to avoid, especially during the second phase — a sort of permanent fireworks display that made the Sans-Éclat dizzy. Even veterans who had perfectly mastered fights deemed difficult but honest, like Friede, Midir or Malenia, quickly began to vilify this fight because of its random dimension that pushed many players to use strategies based on cheese rather than confronting him fairly.
But now, it’s just a bad memory. In patch 1.14, From Software decided to inflict more than substantial nerfs on it.
Patch 1.14 has been released for #ELDENRING Shadow of the Erdtree.
This update brings bug fixes & balance adjustments for #ShadowoftheErdtreeincluding changes to the final fight of the expansion.

Some sequences have been modified to remove mechanics deemed unfair by the community. These include his famous three-sword strike sequence specifically designed to trap enemies who tried to avoid it; the frame trap which claimed the lives of thousands of players is gone, and the entire attack can now be dodged normally.
Additionally, its overall damage and range have been reduced. Other attacks have also been reworked to make them more visible, especially during the second phase.
In other words, this very important fight in terms of lore that had been marred by these mechanical issues becomes much more approachable. It should still represent a substantial challenge, but now, it will at least be possible to appreciate its formidable staging without frustration.
In addition to the final boss, the patch also changes other gameplay elements. These include balancing of various weapon classes, some bug fixes, and an overall adjustment to the dynamics of PvP combat. You can check out the official patch notes on the Bandai Namco website.
