German e-bike manufacturer Riese & Müller has announced a new version of its powerful electric bike Superdelite. With a suspension fork, two batteries and two luggage racks, this e-bike is very suitable for long bike rides, even on unpaved paths.
Riese & Müller names the new one Superdelite5 the ‘ultimate touring e-bike’. The mid-motor in the bicycle is the new Performance Line CX from Bosch with 85 Nm torque. This version of the e-bike motor has several improvements, such as improved sensor technology and quieter operation.
The 2025 model of the Superdelite has been completely redesigned. The aluminum frame has partly polished welds that should radiate higher quality. The cyclists’ weight is shifted more to the front wheel with a slightly shorter top tube, which, according to the manufacturer, improves riding stability. The bottom bracket to the ground has also been increased, making you less likely to hit obstacles.
Batteries and suspension fork
The electric bicycle has two batteries, together good for 1200 Wh capacity. According to Riese & Müller, an ‘enormous range’ is possible, but the company does not mention the number of kilometers. The first Bosch PowerTube 800 battery sits in the down tube and the smaller Bosch CompactTube 400 sits in an easily accessible compartment under the top tube. The battery in the down tube has been given an aluminum cover.
The Superdelite5 appears in different versions. For example, the GT Touring version has a classic derailleur gear with 11 gears, while the GT Vario has a stepless Enviolo 380 gear. There is also the GT Rohloff, which has a belt drive and an E-14 Speedhub with 14 gears. The e-bike has a suspension fork and is optionally available with an ABS braking system.
Smart System van Bosch
Riese & Müller is switching to the Smart System from Bosch with the new 2025 model of the Superdelite. This offers, among other things, an Eco+ driving mode, adjustment of support levels and improved theft protection with the Bosch ConnectModule. Theft protection, including the ConnectCare service, is free for the first year after purchasing the bicycle. There is a Bosch Kiox 500 display on the handlebars.
Weight
The Superdelite5 is a powerful e-bike, but is also quite heavy, about 36 kg. There is a fixed luggage rack at the back with a load capacity of 27 kg and the optional front carrier can handle 5 kg.
Not only are the mudguards and lights integrated, but also the stand, which is attached to the back of the frame. The frame lock is mounted inconspicuously on the rear structure. A child seat is one of the new options. The maximum permitted total weight is 160 kilograms.
Price and availability
This year you won’t be able to hit the road with this new e-bike yet, because Riese & Müller will not launch the Superdelite5 until February 2025, in moss green. The starting price is 8,139 euros, the most expensive version costs 10,169 euros.
Until now, this model was also available as a speed pedelec, so with pedal assistance up to 45 km/h, but Riese & Müller has not yet said anything about a possible new speed pedelec.
