This orange juice for less than 2 euros is the healthiest in the supermarket according to Que Choisir

Are you looking for an industrial orange juice that is as close as possible to a home-squeezed orange juice?UFC-What to Choose found it for you. A panel of 60 consumers blindly tasted a selection of many industrial orange juices from different brands. The nutritional parameters were analyzed in the laboratory to determine who holds the holy grail of the best orange juice for health.

And the big winner is the 100% pure Orange Bio village juice, with pulp, sold in E.Leclerc stores at the price of €1.79 per one-litre bottle. This is also proof that, as UFC-Que Choisir points out, price is not an indicator of quality. The Bio village orange juice received a score of 13/20, the closest score to home-squeezed juice, as well as positive comments on all the criteria evaluated by the consumer association (colour, fruit smell, texture, etc.).

Vitamin C, vitamin B9 and antioxidants

Nearly 80% of testers said they would buy and consume this juice again. Made from oranges of European and non-European origin, this juice is certified organic. This is an important criterion for UFC-Que Choisir, which reminds us: ” Juice fruits are often contaminated with pesticide residues. Therefore, when buying juice, it is best to choose those labeled organic or without pesticide residues. »

It is also a pasteurized fruit juice, which allows it to be preserved for several months. The latest test carried out by UFC-Que Choisir did not show any difference in taste or nutritional richness between juices in the ambient section and juices in the fresh section.

Finally, the experts from the consumer association point out that this juice has a vitamin C content higher than the minimum required in orange juice, as well as a good content of vitamin B9 and polyphenols with an antioxidant effect.

Please note that fruit juices should be consumed in moderation.

A word of caution, however, is required regarding sugar levels. While sugar is only allowed in nectars, fruit juices are naturally very sweet and therefore ” not recommended for health ».

Indeed, fruit juices are far from the “healthy” image that we would like to give them. Contrary to what the advertisements sell us, in reality, they can in no way replace fruit in terms of benefits.

The difference is in chewing: when you eat a fruit, by chewing, you benefit from its fibers. Thanks to the latter, the sugar contained in the fruit will arrive more slowly in your blood. The fruit therefore has very little impact on blood sugar and will not generate a craving for sugar or an increase in appetite. Unlike fruit, juices will generate an increase in blood sugar and promote hunger. And this, whether it is an industrial fruit juice or home-pressed, since they do not involve any chewing action.

So fruit juices, even home-squeezed ones, should be limited as much as possible.
