This Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a tribute to 70s racing

What you see is a Porsche 911 GT3 RS different from all the others. Made by the team Porsche Exclusive Manufactory through the Sonderwunsch customization program, it is a unique piece dedicated Yes Siffertthe Swiss driver who died prematurely and was the author of the first victory for the Porsche 917.

The car will be on display at Porsche Centres in Switzerland starting this month, before becoming a key attraction at Auto Zürich, taking place from 7 to 10 November 2024.

The Swiss Legend

First, a bit of history. On August 10, 1969, Jo Siffert and Kurt Ahrens achieved the first international victory for the Porsche 917 during a 1,000-kilometer race at the Österreichring near Zeltweg. This victory marked a pivotal moment in Porsche’s racing history, with the 917 initially being considered difficult to handle due to its high performance and sophisticated aerodynamic solutions.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert

Jo Siffert is a legend in Switzerland, even half a century after his death. In his eleven-year career, Siffert competed in 298 races, often in multiple events on the same weekend.

Faithful to the original

The creation of the 911 GT3 RS “Tribute to Jo Siffert” saw the active participation of the Siffert family, including son Philippe and grandson Jérémy.

The Porsche’s aesthetics are a direct reference to the 917, with white paintwork and green details on the front bumpers and spoiler, which recall the chromatic characteristics of the original vehicle. The number 29, used in the historic race, is also reproduced on the bodywork.

The inscriptions of the sponsors of the time, such as Bosch and Shell, have been faithfully reproduced, as well as the silhouette of the 917KH on the satin black magnesium wheels and the rear wing plates. In addition, a sticker on the B-pillars depicts Jo Siffert’s helmet with his signature.

The interiors are characterised by high-quality materials such as Race-Tex in black and Indian red. Siffert’s helmet motif is embroidered on the headrests and the silhouette of the 917 also appears on the door sill strips. The car key and the leather key fob have been personalised with details that recall the 917 and Siffert’s signature.

As mentioned, the car will also be on display at the Auto Zürich show, where the name of the owner will be drawn from a list of interested customers.
