Earlier this month, we presented our top picks for the best American animated series, including some new releases, such as Rick et Mortybut also old classics, like Batman the animated series. And speaking of this cult series from the 1990s, the latter recently received a nice tribute from the characters of the Adult Swim series.
When Rick and Morty invite themselves into the cult universe of Batman
As Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith made their grand return to our screens in Rick & Morty : L’Animewhich premiered in August 2024 on Max (HBO’s streaming platform), many are eagerly awaiting season 8 of the main series, which is normally scheduled for 2025.
And while waiting for the continuation of Rick and Morty’s adventures across the multiverse, fans were treated to a short video featuring the protagonists. A video that will bring back memories for some, since it perfectly reproduces the credits of the famous animated series. Batman (or Batman : The Animated Series in the original version) launched in 1992.

We then find multiple references to the Adult Swim series in this parody.notably featuring Mr. Poopybutthole and Mr. Meeseeks as the two criminals originally appearing in the opening credits of the cartoon. Batman. Similarly, it is no longer a bank that explodes, but a Blips and Chitz, the intergalactic arcade discovered in season 2 of Rick & Morty.
The Batmobile has also been replaced by the scientist’s iconic space shuttle. Finally, we can see that it is Rick who embodies this revisited version of the Dark Knightwhile Morty acts as a sidekick, appearing at the very end of the video alongside his grandfather.
