For the second time in a short time we have a classic Saab on the shelves in ‘In the Wild’ that has been with its owner for 28 years. This time it is a Saab 96, which is a bit older than the Saab 95 that passed by this summer. This one is from 1964 and can therefore blow out sixty candles again this year. He spent almost half of his life in the Netherlands, because he was brought here in 1996. The person who took him under his wing at the time still owns him. Saab 96 The Saab appears to be in perfect condition and AutoWeek forum member Johan82 recently came across it on a beautiful late summer evening. You can bet that this car will only appear in good weather. At least, it probably wouldn’t have helped him if the 96 was used in all weather conditions. This is an ideal car for nice drives in the sun, not least because such an old Saab is secretly a far cry from the comfort that a more modern car offers. Although the Saab 96 managed to survive as a model for no less than twenty years, from 1960 to 1980, towards the end of its existence it was already a quite archaic car. It was only available with engines that did not last long in the car industry. You could get it with a three-cylinder two-stroke engine or with a V4 from Ford. According to the license plate details, this copy has the latter, the 1.5 V4 to be precise. Special, because it was not yet available in the 96 in 1964. Presumably an engine change was carried out at some point or it was wrongly registered as a V4 upon import. In any case, this Saab attracts attention when you hear it coming. If you also see him, the party is complete. What a picture!
