This Toyota product in the TRAC fleet is ready to use Bioethanol E10

DAPURPACUID – PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) together with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and PT Serasi Autoraya (TRAC) are officially collaborating in efforts to use alternative fuel mixtures.

Later, in this collaboration, all Toyota product lines will use a mixture of alternative energy, namely bioethanol up to 10 percent.

TAM President Director, Hiroyuki Ueda said, through the Use Case Collaboration, all parties want to learn how effective alternative energy can reduce motor vehicle emissions.

This step, continued Ueda san, is in line with the Multi Pathway Strategy in the energy transition period, all vehicle technology including Toyota’s electrification (xEV) will be used in research on bioethanol use.

“Efforts to achieve carbon neutrality cannot be done by Toyota alone, but require cooperation with key stake holders,” he said on the sidelines of the opening of the Toyota booth, last Friday.

“This collaboration was carried out to study the use of alternative bioethanol (E10) fuel mixtures in the daily mobility of Indonesian consumers, especially in East Java,” he said.

From Pertamina Patra Niaga, this collaboration is the company’s effort to re-develop bioethanol as an alternative fuel raw material in Indonesia.

For information, previously Pertamina Patra Niaga had presented Pertamax Green 95 fuel on the market with a mixture of 5 percent bioethanol or E5.

In this collaboration, Pertamina Patra Niaga increased the product mix to E10, which is expected to produce cleaner combustion in motorized vehicles.

President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Riva Siahaan, emphasized that holistic collaboration with vehicle manufacturers and car service providers is a big step in bringing a biofuel ecosystem to Indonesia.

“We believe this step will not only encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate the 2060 Net Zero Emission target,” added Riva.

“But it also has a positive impact on the country’s economy, opening up new job opportunities and improving the welfare of local farmers involved in the bioethanol supply chain,” he added.

On the other hand, this collaboration is in line with TRAC’s vision, namely Carbon Reduction Energy 2030, with a target of reducing emissions from vehicles operated by 2030 by 30 percent.

TRAC itself is Astra’s business line which provides the largest vehicle rental in Indonesia which serves the mobility of corporate and individual customers.

Riva explained that TRAC continues to be committed to running an environmentally friendly transportation business. It is hoped that this initiative will help in providing greener transportation, as well as achieving the company’s sustainability goals.

“This collaboration is a concrete manifestation of TRAC’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions by testing the use of cleaner energy sources in our fleet operations,” he said.

In this collaboration, Toyota provides various types of vehicles and multi-technology vehicles consisting of ICE, Hybrid EV and Plug-In Hybrid EV models.

Meanwhile, TRAC is providing a total of 50 operational cars consisting of the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV, Avanza, Calya and Agya, which will use E10 bioethanol fuel mix.

TRAC will operate this vehicle for rental needs, which is integrated with AstraFMS (Astra Fleet Management System) to be able to monitor vehicle condition and fuel efficiency at any time.

This collaboration was carried out to study the use of this alternative fuel mixture (E10) in the daily mobility of Indonesian customers, especially in East Java.

“The common goal of achieving carbon neutrality in the energy transition period inspired Toyota, Pertamina Patra Niaga and TRAC to collaborate,” said TAM Vice President Director, Henry Tanoto.

Furthermore, TRAC will manage and monitor the operations of each fleet. Periodically, Toyota will collect data samples such as dyno tests, carbon deposit quantity and emission tests.

Through AstraFMS, Toyota will study real time data in the form of fuel consumption, driving behavior, and engine condition. The results will be compared between test data using regular fuel and renewal energy.

This collaboration will run for 1 year and is located at the TRAC pool in Surabaya, East Java, as a pool with adequate facilities. (dpid/TH)
