Sony has significantly reduced the price of the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition in the US, in time for the holidays. The price reduction may soon also be applied in other countries.
This slimmer PS5 Slim, which normally costs $449.99 in the US, is now on sale there for a limited time for $379.99. This new offer only applies to the digital edition of the console without a disc drive. The disc drive version retains its price of $499.99.
A PS5 with a disc drive costs 549.99 euros in the Netherlands, one without 449.99 euros. If the price were to drop to 379.99 euros, as in the US, it is interesting to know that you can put together a ‘full-fledged’ PS5 with disc drive by purchasing a separate disc drive of 119.99 euros, for a total price of 499.98 euros.
Not yet confirmed
If you have more budget, Sony also offers the new PS5 Pro for 799.99 euros. This high-end variant also does not have a built-in disc drive. Whether the higher price is worth it largely depends on your personal preference.
Whether the price of the PS5 Slim Digital Edition will also drop in our region has not yet been confirmed. In the US, the price drop will last until December 24. Last year, Sony also gave a significant discount on the PS5 in the Netherlands for two weeks.
