- WhatsApp is finally rolling out a new feature for transcribing voice messages
- At the moment, it only works in four languages, hopefully it will learn Czech in time
- It can help us, for example, in public transport, if we don’t have headphones
The communication platform WhatsApp recently introduced the long-awaited feature of lists, and now it brings perhaps even more awaited voicemail transcripts. The creators officially introduced them in a blog post and promise that her will gradually expand to users worldwide in the coming weeks.
Voicemail transcripts have been mentioned in leaks for several months, but only now are we seeing an official announcement and rollout to all users. The catch, however, is in language support – namely transcription at the moment they only work in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. It is not at all clear when we Czechs will see it. However, WhatsApp notes that intends to add more languages in the coming months.
The newly introduced transcriptions have the potential to change the way we use voice messages. When traveling by public transport without headphones, we no longer have to wait until we get out, or put the phone close to our ear, when we can simply read the automatically generated text. Transcriptions can also save a certain amount of time because they eliminate pauses or breaths. We therefore hope that support for the Czech language will be introduced as soon as possible.
Would you appreciate transcriptions of voice messages into Czech?
