This year, every eighth person has been affected by a cyber attack –

According to new research, the number of targets has increased by 14 percent since last year’s record year.

It is now almost impossible to open any newspaper or online interface without running into news about online crime. Attacks of this type have now become part of everyday life, and we can only defend ourselves against cybercriminals by being prepared.

Criminal groups try to obtain our personal, sensitive data on a daily basis, which are related to our identity, bank access, passwords and other data that can be misused. According to a report released Wednesday by the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC), 1.07 billion people were attacked by email, phone or text in the first six months of this year.

According to the group, as a result of mass, targeted attacks and the sophistication of methods, the number of people affected by the violations continues to increase, and among them are those who have been tried two or more times.

According to the ITRC, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of identity theft, the numbers show an increase of about 14 percent compared to the same period in 2023. This doesn’t sound too good because last year’s numbers also broke all previous records.

According to the group, the significant increase in the number of incidents and people involved can be attributed to the fact that the methods are mostly large-scale and affect a large number of groups. The biggest case of this year so far was a data breach involving Ticketmaster Entertainmentwhen the personal data of an estimated 560 million customers was accessed by cybercriminals.
