On 1 January 2025, Thomas Hiemer was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the logistics provider Dachser.
He was recruited for the role from the company’s own ranks and will now be responsible for the FCT unit (Finance, Controlling, Tax & Treasury).
Thomas Hiemer is a member of the executive board, and he took over the post from Burkhard Eling, who, in addition to being Dachser’s CEO, has also led this administrative unit for the past 18 months.
Thomas Hiemer has worked in the finance department at Dachser for 12 years. During this period, the 41-year-old has distinguished himself as a visible leader with expertise in group finance, accounting and controlling. He initially headed Group Controlling before taking up the position of Head of Corporate Finance in December 2021. In July 2023, Thomas Hiemer was appointed Deputy Director of the administrative unit FTC (Finance, Controlling, Tax & Treasury) and thus served as Deputy Head of Finance.
He is trained as an economist, and before joining Dachser, he worked in finance at the company Heidelberg Materials, where he gathered relevant experience in the USA and China.
Continuity is ensured
“The fact that we can fill this position from our own ranks is a great advantage for us,” says Bernhard Simon, chairman of the board at Dachser. “As CFO, Thomas Hiemer occupies a position of trust in relation to communicating with the owners, and he plays an important role in the executive board. His extensive network throughout the company is a clear advantage.”
“Long-term growth is the guiding principle for Dachser’s thoughts and actions as a family-owned company. Here, a strong finance department with a sure hand at the helm plays an important role,” emphasizes CEO Burkhard Eling. “Thomas Hiemer already knows the role of CFO at Dachser inside and out. He can easily start in his new position and thus ensure continuity in the management.”
