Threads users will be able to select one of three options when it comes to whether other users can see their connection status:
- All.
- Followers.
- Followers you follow.
- Nobody.
However, if you disable the Threads activity status feature you will also not be able to see if other users are online or offline. It works in a similar way to WhatsApp’s “Online” status.
Threads is not the only Meta social network that has this controversial status of activity. Instagram has been offering this function in its messaging section for a long time.but it is also optional. So any user who wishes to safeguard their privacy will have their right.
A few years ago, X – then Twitter – was exploring the idea of incorporating an indicator to show which users were online. But the platform eventually scrapped the idea.
