The police arrested 3 more suspects in the gang-rape of a young woman in Badarkhali, Chakriar, Cox’s Bazar.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Cox’s Bazar District Police Jasimuddin said that they were arrested from Shaplapur area of Maheshkhali at 10:30 am on Tuesday (January 7).
Earlier, on Monday (January 6) night, three people were arrested from their respective homes in Badarkhali Union of the upazila.
Jasim Uddin said that the statement has not been filed on behalf of the victim and he is under treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Those arrested on Tuesday are – Badarkhali Md. Abshar Uddin’s son Sajib, Bashir Ahmed’s son Chotan, Ziabul’s son Tajul. All of them are residents of Ward No. 4 of Badarkhali Union, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Manjur Quader Bhuiya.
Bulbul Ahmad, a local youth leader who assisted the police in arresting the accused, said that this morning he got information from secret sources that the three had taken shelter in a fishing enclosure in Shaplapur and were arrested from there.
On Sunday (January 5) around 10 o’clock at night, a young woman complained of gang-rape at Paraban near Badarkhali Bridge, the intersection of Chakria and Maheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar. He was returning to his home in Maheshkhali from Banshkhali in Chittagong.
