Three suspects arrested in case of murder of rabbi in the Emirates

The United Arab Emirates has arrested three suspects in the case of the murder of an Israeli-Moldovan rabbi, who was found dead in the Gulf state.

This was written by the country’s state news agency on Sunday evening, according to Reuters.

The rabbi, Zvi Kogan, had been missing since Thursday.

Earlier Sunday, Israel announced that he had been found dead.

The Israeli prime minister’s office wrote that the rabbi was the victim of a murder and that it was a “heinous act of anti-Semitic terrorism”.

It is still unclear what has happened to the rabbi.

On Saturday, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced in a statement that the United Arab Emirates had launched an investigation into whether Zvi Kogan’s disappearance was related to “a terrorist incident”.

It has not been immediately confirmed by the Emirates.

According to Reuters, Zvi Kogan was a representative of the Chabad movement in the United Arab Emirates.

Chabad is a group within Orthodox Judaism with branches in several places around the world.

In 2020, the United Arab Emirates and Israel established diplomatic relations by signing the Abraham Accords. It was the United States that had been the mediator between them.

The Abraham agreements involving, among other things, trade agreements and direct air connections between the countries. In addition, Israel was recognized by the United Arab Emirates.
