Tania D’Amelio, second vice president of the Supreme Court of Venezuela (TSJ), announced in her statement at the TSJ building in the capital Caracas that a fine of 10 million dollars was imposed on the Chinese social media platform TikTok.
It was stated that the penalty was given due to TikTok’s “negligence” in monitoring viral challenges. According to Venezuelan authorities, these viral challenges led to the deaths of three teenagers and the poisoning of hundreds of others.
