It can also be used in vegetarian recipes to add flavor without altering the natural character of the basic ingredients. For example, grilled vegetables served with piri-piri sauce take on a new and interesting flavor.

Another advantage of piri-piri sauce is that it can be preserved very well for longer periods of time. It can be stored in sterilized jars, in the refrigerator.

The acidity and oil in the composition act as natural preservatives, keeping the sauce fresh and flavorful.

How do you choose the ingredients?

Making piri-piri sauce involves carefully combining the ingredients to achieve the perfect balance of spicy, sour and aromatic. In the traditional recipe, hot peppers are mixed with garlic and salt, which intensify the flavor and keep the spiciness well defined. The addition of white wine vinegar brings a sour note and helps preserve the sauce. Olive oil, used liberally, balances the spiciness of the peppers and gives it a richer, creamier texture.

Depending on preferences, other ingredients can be added. You can also add smoked paprika, oregano or even lemon juice, which adds an extra layer of complexity. Also, in some regional variations, the piri-piri sauce may contain other types of hot or red peppers to vary the intensity of the taste.

After the ingredients are mixed, the sauce is left to mature for a few days. In this way, the flavors merge and become deeper. The infusing process is important because it gives the sauce a balanced and consistent taste, while also reducing the harshness of the raw heat of the peppers. The resulting sauce is ideal for marinating or seasoning dishes, he notes hellotaste.ro.
