Tolls increase in 2025! Ex-scuts stop charging

As we had already warned, toll prices will increase in 2025. After some estimates, it was learned today that toll rates will increase by 2.21% in 2025.

Tolls charged on Portuguese motorways last year reached the highest value ever, which corresponds to around 3.7 million euros per day. In relation to 2022, these dealership revenues rose by more than 200 million.

In addition to the record increase in toll revenue in 2023, there was also a record growth in highway traffic with a daily average of 17,780 vehicles, which represents an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous year.

Tolls will increase 2.21% in 2025

Anyone who travels on federal highways in 2025 will have to pay more. Toll rates will rise by 2.21% on January 1, 2025. It is worth highlighting that in addition to the 2.11% CPI, without housing, on the continent, there is still 0.1%, which results from the agreement reached in 2022 with highway concessionaires to compensate them for the brake at an increase of around 10%, in 2023, thus giving a total of 2.21%.

To "compensate", next year the ex-scuts will no longer have tolls. The bill was approved in a final global vote in June, with votes in favor from PS, Chega, BE, PCP, Livre and PAN, with abstention from IL and against from PSD and CDS.
