Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, music in the key of nostalgia

About a year and a month ago, in September 2023, fans of the Tomb Raider saga received with deep enthusiasm news that, in the case of those of us who already had some (or many) gray hairs, also came with a good dose of nostalgia. I am referring, of course, to the announcement of the remastering of the first three titles starring the iconic Lara Croft. Three games that, those of us who enjoyed them at the time, keep in that part of the brain where memorable experiences are archived.

When we were finally able to see the work carried out on this remastering, It was clear to us that we were facing a great joband my experience with it after it went on sale, on February 14 of this year, was that it was not a perfect remastering, but it was a very good job, living up to expectations and, of course, what they deserved these classics, so remembered and, furthermore, also in the spotlight (in the best of the senses) of modders, with projects and demos like the one that showed us the effect of using path tracing in the first of the saga, or the highly recommended Tomb Raider Redux.

The reception of the remastering was, in general, very positive, which undoubtedly must have stimulated the future plans of the companies involved in this project, which have therefore decided to continue giving us very good news. Thus, just as we can read on the franchise’s official Twitter account, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is a reality, and will go on sale on February 14, 2025. Yes, indeed, just a year after the remastering of the first three titles was done.

Continuing with the good news, this new compilation of Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is not only limited to improving the graphics section, but also also updates the controls. Those who played these titles in their original version will surely remember the “tank” control style, characteristic of that time. Well, in this new edition, players will be able to opt for a much more fluid and modern experience, thanks to the adjustments that have been made to the control mechanics and camera movement. However, for saga purists, who seek to relive each step as they experienced it two decades ago, it will also be possible to play with the original controls, which adds a welcome touch of authenticity.

Regarding the content, Some new features have been added that will help refresh the experience. For example, boss fights, which have always been a crucial part of the series, will now feature a visible life bar, allowing players to adjust their strategies based on the damage dealt, an interesting addition that offers a greater control over the development of battles. Additionally, for those who enjoy immortalizing special moments, the new photography mode will allow you to capture Lara in action, with the possibility of choosing between various poses.

The announcement of this compilation has sparked quite positive reactions among the community, which is already preparing to relive these adventures when Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered goes on sale on February 14, 2025. It will be available for PC (Steam y Epic Games), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S y Nintendo Switch and, as with the previous remastering, this release is expected to once again attract both veterans of the saga and new generations of players, interested in discovering the origins of one of the most iconic heroines in the world of video games.
