Too eco to go back to leather, too fair to serve a dud. Apple has painted itself into a corner

Apple’s accessory lineup change has stirred up a lot of controversy. Last year’s revelation was a huge… dud. But there’s no replacement for it. There’s also no going back to where it all started.

The dust is slowly settling after Apple’s product refresh. However, discussions about the issue of new phone accessories continue. Last year, there was a lot of talk about the terrible quality of those made from the new, ecological, fabric — Fine Woven. It was talked about a lot and loudly: before the premiere, during the premiere, and long after the premiere of the iPhone 15.

Customers, to put it mildly, were not thrilled with these accessories and regularly wrote that they missed the original, leather, cases, which were discontinued in favor of Fine Woven. This year, Apple decided not to continue this experiment. At least in terms of cases.

Apple’s case offering is disappointing. It’s good that there are third-party accessories

Fans of original Apple cases do not hide their disappointment that this year’s offer for smartphones is quite poor. This year, we have only two cases to choose from: silicone and transparent. There is no “premium” version — and it was precisely in this category that the aforementioned leather accessories, or their inept successors, approached. However, looking at the prices of these “ordinary” ones — which are priced in a Polish store at PLN 249 regardless of the size of the smartphone — maybe it is better that Apple decided to bury its head in the sand and end this compromising product. Because it is difficult for me to call iPhone cases made of Fine Woven anything else.

Fortunately, the world does not end with Apple. And we still have an incredibly rich offer of cases from other manufacturers to choose from. And although we will easily find a huge amount of them in Apple Stores and official resellers right at the premiere, this is really just a warm-up. And it will only be a few weeks before store shelves bend under various cases in every color, made of every possible material. Plastic, silicone, leather, and probably something made of fabric.

Fine Woven isn’t dead yet. Or at least not completely.

Fine Woven, which Apple presented to us last year as a real revelation, turned out to be a huge flop and a dud. And although at first glance it might seem that Apple has completely given up – this is not entirely true. The giant from Cupertino apparently decided that it did not work well in the case of smartphone cases, but as covers for their MagSafe wallets, it works so well in their opinion that it is still worth continuing this experiment. And that is why for PLN 319 you can buy their Fine Woven wallet in the official Apple store – and in several new colors.
