Top Doctor Identifies Food Most Likely to Increase Dementia Risk

On social media, the carnivore diet, based largely on the consumption of meat and eggs, is enjoying great success. The reason? It is said to promote weight loss. On the health side, however, it is a completely different story… A doctor warns of its dangers, particularly on memory.

It has already been proven that the health of your brain depends on what you put on your plate!

“Long-term adherence to the ketogenic or carnivorous diet may be pro-inflammatory”

Dr Rupy Aujla, a general practitioner with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), says those who choose a carnivorous lifestyle could be exposing themselves to potentially serious health risks, including memory problems. He spoke on his podcast The Doctor’s Kitchen that the doctor expressed his concern about the craze for this type of diet.

Citing several studies, including on mice, the specialist said: “ They revealed that long-term adherence to the ketogenic or carnivorous diet may be pro-inflammatory and pro-aging.”

The doctor also points to an increased risk of impaired heart muscle function and an impact on cellular health that can increase chronic inflammation. But the most concerning aspect of the carnivore diet, he says, is its high cholesterol levels, which are linked to an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and dementia.

What do the authorities say about the carnivore diet?

According to the NHS (the UK’s public health agency), meat is a good source of protein, which the body needs to maintain and build muscle. However, it is advisable to choose lean cuts and limit your consumption of red and processed meat. Also, the NHS points out that eggs and oily fish, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, are particularly healthy animal proteins.
