DAPURPACUID – PT Toyota Astra Motor is taking advantage of the momentum of this year’s GIIAS event to expand consumer choices in the GR lineup, through the launch of the New GR Yaris.
With the presence of this latest model, it is believed to strengthen the main ecosystem of the GR brand, namely Motorsport, Community and Product. In total, TAM has now presented 13 GR models in the country.
Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor, Anton Jimmi Suwandy, appreciated the very positive public acceptance of the GAZOO RACING brand in Indonesia.
Anton also said that his party is trying to continue to present ever-better cars, as well as provide a complete ecosystem for GR customers in Indonesia.
“At the 2024 GIIAS moment, we show the spirit of Pushing the limits for Better through the New GR Yaris which has received a significant upgrade,” he added on the sidelines of the launch at the Toyota booth.
As is known, GR Yaris was officially introduced in 2021 which was marketed in a limited number of only 127 units. And in just a matter of time it was immediately sold out.
The presence of this product is an evolution of the previous model, where there are 4 main points of development in the latest GR Yaris.
First, the GAZOO Racing Direct 8-speed automatic transmission is embedded, accompanying the 6-speed manual transmission that is still available from the previous model.
This intelligent transmission has been tested for performance by the TGR World Rally Team and TGR Rally Challenge participants on various race tracks.
TGR has succeeded in creating an automatic transmission that is capable of producing very fast gear changes, as well as maximizing engine power across all engine speed ranges.
The 1,600 cc 3-cylinder turbo engine embedded in the latest GR Yaris is claimed to be one of the most efficient and powerful engines in the world today.
However, the performance of this engine has been maximized again so that the power has increased significantly from the previous 261 PS and now reaches 305 PS, while the torque has increased from 360 Nm to 400 Nm.
New Drive Mode options and 4WD system optimization of the GR Four are also embedded to maximize performance improvements. There are 3 driving modes to choose from with different control characteristics, namely Sport, Normal, and Eco.
Including GR Four system optimization through 3 modes; Normal, Gravel (formerly Sport) and Track, which can adjust the power distribution to the front and rear wheels according to the characteristics of the rider and the track being traveled.
The control panel and monitor in the cockpit are tilted 15 degrees towards the driver for easier operation. Driving posture has been improved by lowering the driver’s seat by 25 mm, significantly expanding the field of view and visibility.
On the exterior, the right and left sides of the lower front bumper are now separate structures to facilitate repairs or component replacement if necessary.
While the design changes on the front bumper for better air flow in cooling the engine and ATF cooler. So is the development of the chassis.
Reflecting on the Toyota GR Yaris Rally Hybrid’s experience in the rally world, the latest GR Yaris chassis is reinforced to allow drivers to maximize their performance.
Body rigidity is increased through 13% more spot welding, 24% more body adhesive, and a 3-point suspension mounting method which results in increased handling stability and ride comfort.
Along with the launch, Toyota presents a new Precious Metal color, to complement the iconic Platinum White Pearl and Emotional Red color variants.
For the price, the New GR Yaris manual transmission is sold for IDR 1.15 billion, while the automatic transmission option is priced at IDR 1.198 billion in OTR Jakarta conditions. (dpid/TH)
