Is the Toyota Yaris a good choice? The Toyota Yaris is a compact car from the B-segment. Due to its practical size, it is often used as a city car, or sometimes even as a second means of transport. Because it is a reliable car that is economical with its fuel, it is an excellent choice for many people as a used car. Of course, the Yaris is not the largest car. Especially in the back seat and in the trunk, the space is quite tight. So for those who regularly want to take multiple passengers or a lot of luggage, it may not be ideal. Performance and comfort The Yaris is really designed for economical city traffic. It does not have a lot of power, but it can keep up well in the city center. In terms of engines, you first have the choice of various petrol engines, from a 1.0 liter engine with 69 hp to a 133 hp 1.8 liter. If you prefer to drive a diesel, the range is slightly less extensive. Then you automatically end up with a 1.4 liter with a power of 90 hp. The chassis of the Yaris XP90 is quite stiff, which makes the car not very comfortable. It is not so much bouncy, and for city use its comfort is fine, but for long journeys it is not the nicest car. When driving on the highway, the driving noises you hear in the car also increase considerably. Space and practicality As we mentioned earlier, the Yaris is not the largest car. You can spend a lot of time on the front seats, but it quickly becomes cramped on the back seat. The boot space is also not very large. The models between 2005 and 2009 have a boot capacity of 275 liters, the later versions have 313 liters of loading space. With the back seat folded down, you naturally have a lot more space for stuff. Reliability and problems The Toyota Yaris is generally a reliable car. Especially when it has had its regular maintenance on time. Problems that sometimes occur with this generation are wear of the clutch and gearbox. This is largely due to the use of the car. The Yaris is often used as a city car, which means that the clutch has to endure more than when driving on the highway. In addition, it is of course already a somewhat older car, so this wear and tear can also be partly attributed to old age. What are alternatives to the Toyota Yaris?
