Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the direct flights to be launched on August 9th in order to respond to the increasing passenger demand between Trabzon and Kocaeli will provide significant time savings for citizens, and said, “The first flight will be carried out on August 9th. The first plane will depart from Trabzon at 06:00 and from Kocaeli at 08:25 in the morning. The flights, which will be organized every Friday until September 20th, were initially planned for 7 weeks. The number of flights and hours will change according to passenger demand.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that direct Trabzon-Kocaeli flights will begin as of August 9. He announced that the flights, which will be organized by Pegasus Airlines every Friday between August 9 and September 20, were initially planned for 7 weeks. Uraloğlu stated that the plane, which will depart from Trabzon at 06:00, will reach Kocaeli in one hour and 50 minutes, and said, “The plane, which will depart from Kocaeli, will depart at 08:25 in the morning and the passengers will arrive in Trabzon in just one hour and 30 minutes at 09:55. We are reducing the 995-kilometer distance, which takes approximately 14 hours with intercity buses, to one and a half hours.”

Minister Uraloğlu also emphasized that these flights to be made between Trabzon Airport and Kocaeli Cengiz Topel Airport will contribute particularly to the economic development of the region, and said, “We continue to bring the east and west of Turkey closer. With this application, where we make Trabzon and Kocaeli next-door neighbors, we will provide significant contributions to the economies and tourism potentials of both cities and surrounding provinces by ensuring flexible population mobility.” Stating that they aim to provide passengers with a fast and comfortable travel experience with the new flights, Uraloğlu also underlined that the number and hours of flights can be increased according to passenger demand as of the starting date of the flights.
