The Basque Health Department has notified the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) of an alert regarding the presence of undeclared milk on the label of Eroski’s field-fed cular salchichón and Seleqtia brand acorn-fed Iberian salchichón, also from Eroski. As a precautionary measure, people with allergies or intolerances to milk components who may have the product in their homes are advised to refrain from consuming it.
According to the Ministry of Health, the company that distributes the food product has detected, in its self-control system, the presence of milk not declared on the label in products made in Spain and sold under its brand and has reported it to the regional health authorities. So far there is no record of any complaints or affected people. Likewise, Eroski has blocked and withdrawn this product from the market and has also notified all its customers. It also reports on its website the affected batches, reports Europa Press.
According to the available information, the product is distributed to all autonomous communities except Catalonia and it is also recalled that the consumption of these products does not pose a risk to other consumers. The information has been transferred to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through the Coordinated System for Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI) in order to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from the marketing channels.
