The horror movie The Deliverance starring Andra Day and Glenn Close looks surprisingly promising.

Netflix has released a trailer for the horror film The Deliverance, starring Andra Day, Glenn Close, Caleb McLaughlin, Mo’Nique and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. The movie based on real events tells about the exorcism case of the Latoya Ammons family.

The Deliverance is the second collaboration between director Lee Daniels and Day. Daniels also directed Day in 2021’s The United States vs. Billie Holiday, for which the actor received an Oscar nomination. Lee is also known as the producer of Monster’s Ball, for which Halle Berry won the Oscar for Best Actress.

Daniels’ directing work also includes the films Shadowboxer, Precious and The Paperboy

The Deliverance was written by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum.

The movie will also be released in theaters worldwide on August 16. In Finland, Netflix movies have not been seen on the big screen for years. The Deliverance hits streaming August 30th.
