Trams to return to Sergius of Radonezh Street

Let me remind you that the first horse-drawn trams or horse-drawn trams appeared here in the 1870s. At that time, Sergius of Radonezh Street was called Voronya. At the beginning of the twentieth century, electric trams were launched on the rails, which ran until 1952. Then the line was moved to Shkolnaya Street, and in 1980 it was closed there too.

The modern line will connect the existing tram tracks on Entuziastov Highway and Andronyevskaya Square, which will allow additional routes to Kursky Station to be launched. Construction of the new 860-meter-long double-track line began this spring. The tracks are being installed on a separate track at the same level as the roadway. According to Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov, the facility is now 60 percent complete. Passengers will be transported by the modern and most innovative Vityaz-Moscow trams.
