Translucent Clock Widgets and other improvements

Apple recently released the seventh beta of iOS 18.1, and although it doesn’t bring with it any radical changes, it introduces some small improvements that are worth mentioning, especially for those who love the clean and minimal aesthetic of the iOS interface.

Translucent Clock Widgets

One of changes the most obvious concerns the clock widgets, which now appear translucent in “tint” mode. Instead of using a simple black and white look, the widget uses transparency to blend better with the rest of the interface, recalling the “blur” effect introduced with iOS 7. This change seems part of a more coherent approach by Apple, which wants to better integrate the various elements of the system, so that they do not “disturb” the interface with colors or contrasts that are too strong.

Other improvements

In terms of functionality, the improvements are not significant compared to beta 6. Apple’s main focus for this release was on optimizing the system and fixing minor bugs, preparing for the public launch of iOS 18.1. In addition to the widgets, there have been small additions in the system apps, as good as new splash screen for applications such as Home, Podcasts and TV, which present the updated features more clearly.

Looking to the future, with the update iOS 18.2expected in December, we could see the introduction of new AI functions in the US as Image Playgroundwhich will allow you to create AI-generated images in Apple-approved styles, and Visual Intelligencewhich will give users the ability to recognize real objects via the iPhone’s camera.
