France mourns the end of the Games. The end of a dream, the end of an enchanted interlude… but why the end? Why not give ourselves the means to continue this Olympic dream in our companies? This is what Nathalie Cachet, President of SCORE DDB, member of the AACC, explains.

What moved and seduced us in these games? It was the beautiful and moving story that was told to us and that we were allowed to experience. We were shown the great values of sport: performance, energy, determination, passion, surpassing oneself … We were shown that we could experience strong sensations by celebrating – and celebrating – the victories and the athletes live, at Club France, at the ceremonies and at the Final Parade. And not only that! Something really new happened with this incredible craze for the Paralympic Games.

But why? Because here too, the storytelling was ultra powerful. The ceremonies showed the beauty of diversity. Televisions and social networks told us about the lives and exploits of the athletes. They touched and moved us and made us enter history alongside the Paralympic athletes. Thanks to this beautiful shared story, we considered a population of athletes that we did not know and that we stopped watching from afar to experience real emotions with them.

This magic of the games allowed the French to vibrate all together to the same rhythm

Sport has always been my life – not just since the Olympics – and I have long noticed the existence of a real parallel between sport and business. The storytelling is the same. The story to tell and to live is the same. Moreover, the company already claims the values of sport: performance, determination, results … are words that constantly motivate us. But it is time not to forget others, in particular celebration. Caught up in the rhythm, we too often forget to celebrate our victories together and to share the fruit of our collective work. To tell each other how we worked, what our adventure was to win and to rejoice together in all the energy, all the talents and all the motivation that we put together to succeed. Unfortunately, we deprive ourselves of happy moments, so good for morale, the motivation of each person and the well-being of the teams. And above all, it is time to realize that a company made up of different personalities is a stronger, sharper company, more in tune with its times, and therefore logically more efficient.

Yes, we talk about inclusivity, but what the games have shown us is that only TRUE inclusivity generates emotions… not the kind we are forced to do, not the kind that is a question of quotas: the kind that makes us really interested in what the other person can bring… whoever they are! In business, we spend our time complaining about our differences and trying to erase them instead of rejoicing in them: young people vs. old people, Paris vs. the regions, privileged backgrounds vs. disadvantaged backgrounds, able-bodied people vs. people with disabilities. We must sincerely believe that “and” is better than “or” and think deep down that these differences are really a strength. Show everyone that “different” does not mean “less good”. Make everyone understand what these differences bring to others and therefore to the team, therefore to the company.

This is the story that we must tell and bring to life for teams and customers.

What a wealth to have a united and cohesive company that is the true reflection of a country and its population. The more accurate this reflection is, the more it speaks to people and the more power and strength it has and therefore value. What an emotion to have different points of view that express themselves, respect each other and complement each other, and this is valid whether you are a retailer, brand or agency.

Easier said than done? Not sure! In any case, we have to try and try again until we get there. Believe in it and never give up. Look at these organizing members of the Games who everyone predicted would fail, or at best, not be ready on time… They worked and moved forward without listening to their detractors. A diverse, professional, ambitious, determined team that took the world’s breath away. What a magnificent victory. Obviously, many companies have already made progress in this process. But the Games have made us take a step forward. The storytelling of the Games has succeeded in transforming us. There is a before and an after. Let us each be the driving force of the after and make our companies Olympic. Let us tell this story and make everyone want to be part of it. We will thus participate in changing society in a way that leaves more room for differences thanks to successful and happier companies for all.

Faster, higher, stronger, together. The most moving of storytellings.
